DIY Indicator Bike Lights

Date: 29/09/2013

Time: 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: C4CC (The Creative for Creative Collaboration)

As the autumn and winter approaches, days are getting shorter meaning it’s even more important to have lights to illuminate yourself when cycling. And even if you don’t cycle, you still enjoy designing and making your own clothing that lights up.

You’ll create two circuits that turn on and off flashing lights. We’ll be creating them in gloves, but if you’d like to bring another item of clothing to sew them onto instead, just let us know.

DIY Bike Indicator GLove

This is a beginners workshop – there’s no programming involved and you’ll be guided through all the electronics.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Basic electronics and working with batteries, LEDs, resistors, 555 timers.
  • Soft circuit sewing techniques.
  • Soldering components so they can be sewn.

To attend this workshop you will need:

  • If you would not like to make your circuits on the gloves we provide, you will need to bring your own item of clothing. Please note that you will be sewing onto the clothing!
